Tornadoes from hurricanes?

One surprising aspect of hurricanes and tropical storms to many is that they do produce tornadoes. As the system interacts with land, the spin or "shear" within individual cells in spiraling bands swirling around the hurricane can translate down to the ground as tornadoes.

Check out the impressive video of an apparently "weak" tornado captured in Gulfport, MS. You can see debris blowing in one direction, and then the other as the twister passes quickly by.

Isaac's main effect has been coastal storm surge and locally heavy rainfall.

Isaac has dumped anywhere from 7" to 15" of rain on Louisiana. Check out the incredible 23"+ total reported from the National Hurricane Center.

We'll see a few scattered showers & T-Storms along the front today. SPC does not expect any severe weather.

The combination of wind, heat and low humidity make for high fire danger in southern Minnesota today. "Red Flag Warnings" are flying for all of southern Minnesota today.

Allawi accuses prime minister of interfering with ministry?s affairs

Iraq?s communications minister Mohammed Tawfiq Allawi has resigned, saying the prime minister has refused to ?stop political interference? in his ministry.

Allawi told Agence France-Presse that he submitted his resignation a month ago, but it has only just been accepted by Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki. ?I present my resignation because I have become incapable of working in such an infested environment,? he said in his resignation letter.

Allawi, a member of the Sunni-backed Iraqiya bloc in Iraq?s coalition government, has clashed with the Shia prime minister?s office. Sectarian infighting has increased since the US armed forces left the country in December 2011.

Allawi resignation is said to the first of a minister in the power-sharing government since it was formed in 2010.

NASA's Kepler discovers multiple planets orbiting a pair of stars

ScienceDaily (Aug. 28, 2012) ? Coming less than a year after the announcement of the first circumbinary planet, Kepler-16b, NASA's Kepler mission has discovered multiple transiting planets orbiting two suns for the first time. This system, known as a circumbinary planetary system, is 4,900 light-years from Earth in the constellation Cygnus.

This discovery proves that more than one planet can form and persist in the stressful realm of a binary star and demonstrates the diversity of planetary systems in our galaxy.

Astronomers detected two planets in the Kepler-47 system, a pair of orbiting stars that eclipse each other every 7.5 days from our vantage point on Earth. One star is similar to the sun in size, but only 84 percent as bright. The second star is diminutive, measuring only one-third the size of the sun and less than 1 percent as bright.

"In contrast to a single planet orbiting a single star, the planet in a circumbinary system must transit a 'moving target.' As a consequence, time intervals between the transits and their durations can vary substantially, sometimes short, other times long," said Jerome Orosz, associate professor of astronomy at San Diego State University and lead author of the paper. "The intervals were the telltale sign these planets are in circumbinary orbits."

The inner planet, Kepler-47b, orbits the pair of stars in less than 50 days. While it cannot be directly viewed, it is thought to be a sweltering world, where the destruction of methane in its super-heated atmosphere might lead to a thick haze that could blanket the planet. At three times the radius of Earth, Kepler-47b is the smallest known transiting circumbinary planet.

The outer planet, Kepler-47c, orbits its host pair every 303 days, placing it in the so-called "habitable zone," the region in a planetary system where liquid water might exist on the surface of a planet. While not a world hospitable for life, Kepler-47c is thought to be a gaseous giant slightly larger than Neptune, where an atmosphere of thick bright water-vapor clouds might exist.

"Unlike our sun, many stars are part of multiple-star systems where two or more stars orbit one another. The question always has been -- do they have planets and planetary systems? This Kepler discovery proves that they do," said William Borucki, Kepler mission principal investigator at NASA's Ames Research Center in Moffett Field, Calif. "In our search for habitable planets, we have found more opportunities for life to exist."

To search for transiting planets, the research team used data from the Kepler space telescope, which measures dips in the brightness of more than 150,000 stars. Additional ground-based spectroscopic observations using telescopes at the McDonald Observatory at the University of Texas at Austin helped characterize the stellar properties. The findings are published in the journal Science.

"The presence of a full-fledged circumbinary planetary system orbiting Kepler-47 is an amazing discovery," said Greg Laughlin, professor of Astrophysics and Planetary Science at the University of California in Santa Cruz. "These planets are very difficult to form using the currently accepted paradigm, and I believe that theorists, myself included, will be going back to the drawing board to try to improve our understanding of how planets are assembled in dusty circumbinary disks."

Ames manages Kepler's ground system development, mission operations and science data analysis. NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, Calif., managed the Kepler mission development.

Ball Aerospace & Technologies Corp. in Boulder, Colo., developed the Kepler flight system and supports mission operations with the Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics at the University of Colorado in Boulder.

The Space Telescope Science Institute in Baltimore archives, hosts and distributes Kepler science data. Kepler is NASA's tenth Discovery Mission and funded by NASA's Science Mission Directorate at the agency's headquarters in Washington.

Syrian archbishop takes refuge in Lebanon after offices sacked : News

Melkite Catholic Archbishop Jean-Clement Jeanbart of Aleppo, Syria, has sought refuge in Lebanon after his offies were ransacked by rebel troops.

The offices of the Maronite Catholic archdiocese of Aleppo, and a Byzantine Christian museum, were also damaged by the marauding troops. A Church spokesman blamed the destruction on groups ?who want to start a religious war and drag the Syrian people into a sectarian conflict.?

Renal denervation improves blood pressure and arterial stiffness, study suggests

ScienceDaily (Aug. 27, 2012) ? Renal denervation improves blood pressure and arterial stiffness in patients with therapy resistant hypertension, according to research presented at ESC Congress 2012 by Mr Klaas Franzen from the University Hospital of Schleswig-Holstein. The findings suggest that renal denervation regenerates blood vessels and could reduce cardiovascular events.

Malignant arterial hypertension was historically treated with surgical thoracolumbar splanchnicectomy, a type of sympathectomy treatment that was introduced in 1938. "A significant reduction in blood pressure response was observed in at least half of the patients who underwent splanchnicectomy," said Mr Franzen. "But the treatment led to severe adverse events such as orthostatic hypotension, anhidrosis and intestinal disturbances. After the discovery of effective antihypertensive drugs, splanchnicectomy became neglected and disregarded over time."

In 2009 the concept of sympathectomy was reintroduced with intravasal catheter-based percutaneous renal sympathetic denervation (RDN) used in patients suffering from resistant arterial hypertension. Recent publications have shown that RDN significantly lowers systolic and diastolic peripheral brachial blood pressure by 32/12 mmHg after 6 months.

Mr Franzen said: "RDN with radiofrequency energy has several important advantages over surgical splanchnicectomy: it is a minimally invasive procedure without significant systematic side effects, it is well tolerated, and recovery times are short."

Arterial hypertension can irrevocably harm blood vessels in the short and long term, subsequently leading to increased aortic/arterial stiffness and arteriosclerosis. "Since central aortic pressures and arterial stiffness are much better predictors for future cardiovascular events than peripheral pressures we focused the present study on the effects of RDN on central hemodynamics and arterial stiffness," said Mr Franzen.

The researchers studied 21 patients with therapy resistant hypertension (61.9% men; mean age 64 years; 5.0?1.3 antihypertensive drugs) and 6 controls (83.3% men; mean age 57 years; 4.3?2.3 antihypertensive drugs). The inclusion criteria were: (i) use of >3 antihypertensive drugs, (ii) peripheral blood pressure at baseline ?150 mmHg, and (iii) exclusion of secondary hypertension and anatomical abnormalities of the renal arteries.

RDN was performed with an RDN radiofrequency ablation catheter system (1). Central hemodynamics and arterial stiffness, i.e. pulse wave velocity (PWV), were recorded with an Arteriograph device (2). Measurements were performed at baseline, and 3 and 6 months after the intervention.

RDN led to an improvement in all parameters compared to baseline. Peripheral systolic blood pressure improved by 7.6% (145 mmHg versus 156 mmHg, p<0.05) after 3 months and by 5.4% (148 mmHg versus 156 mmHg, p<0.05) after 6 months. Central systolic blood pressure improved by 9.5% (147 mmHg versus 161 mmHg, p<0.01) after 3 months and by 6.6% (151 mmHg versus 161 mmHg, p<0.05) after 6 months. Most importantly, PWV improved significantly, both at 3 months (9.4?1.2 m/s versus 10.9?1.8 m/s, p<0.01) and 6 months (9.7?1.8 m/s versus 10.9?1.8 m/s, p<0.01). Univariate analysis of variance (f-test) showed that the improvement of PWV was, at least in part, blood pressure independent.

In controls no significant changes in blood pressure values or PWV were observed.

"Besides peripheral blood pressures, RDN improved central blood pressures and arterial stiffness, i.e. PWV," said Mr Franzen. "According to age adjusted reference values, the improvement of approximately 1m/s PWV observed in our study could be interpreted as a blood vessel rejuvenation of almost 10 years. This suggests that RDN might be a fountain of youth for blood vessels in patients with therapy resistant hypertension."

He added: "Further studies are needed to determine whether the benefits of RDN translate into a reduced risk of cardiovascular events."

First published study to examine risk factors for injury among deployed US soldiers involving popular military vehicles

A new report by researchers from the Johns Hopkins Center for Injury Research and Policy examines the risk factors for injuries to U.S. military personnel from crashes involving highly mobile multipurpose wheeled vehicles (HMMWVs), more commonly known as Humvees. According to the study, involvement in combat and serving as the vehicle's operator or gunner posed the greatest risk for injury. It is the first published analysis of factors associated with Humvee injury risk in a deployed setting, and is in the August issue of the journal Military Medicine.

According to the U.S. Department of Army, motor vehicle crashesboth privately owned and military vehiclesaccount for nearly one-third of all U.S. military fatalities annually and are among the top five causes of hospitalization for personnel.

"Nearly half of all those involved in motor vehicle crashes in Iraq, Kuwait, and Afghanistan from 2002-2006 were in Humvees at the time of the crash," said principal investigator Keshia Pollack, PhD, an associate professor with the Johns Hopkins Center for Injury Research and Policy and the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. "It's critical that we consider risk factors for these crashes, and use this knowledge to develop injury prevention programs and policies," she said. For example, given the association between being in a combat setting (versus crashes that do not occur during combat situations and injury), training for the military in combat-like situations through simulation or live-training exercises for all drivers could be important. Similarly, as gunners are often in an exposed position on top of the vehicle, equipment or devices that protect them from injury in rollover crashes should be explored.

The authors, who included researchers from the U.S. Army as well as the Johns Hopkins Center for Injury Research and Policy, used data on U.S. Army vehicle crashes from 1999 to 2006 collected by the Army Safety Management Information System. The total documented cases of crashes was narrowed to focus on the sub-population of active duty U.S. Army, Army Reserve, and National Guard soldiers involved in military vehicle crashes in the countries of Iraq, Kuwait, and Afghanistan, occurring during Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom.

"The finding that the odds of being injured when the crash occurred in combat indicates that in a high-stress situation, the soldier may be distracted or less likely to take self-protective measures or follow safety regulations," said study co-author Susan P. Baker, MPH, a professor with the Johns Hopkins Center for Injury Research and Policy. "As motor vehicle crashes are responsible for one-third of all U.S. military deaths annually, it's imperative that significant measures be taken to save lives."

On Aug 25, a few of the K-popped!?crew got together for food sampling at Namoo on the Park. The cafe?s Managing Director Kim Sung Yong, played the perfect host.

Apart from learning how the Korean dessert cafe & bistro came about, we also got a taste of the sumptuous fare.

The food and drinks offered at Namoo are certainly right up our alley. The drinks especially, are not too sweet (you don?t need to remind the waiter for ?kurang manis?) and are extremely refreshing. The cuisine at Namoo is certainly tasty yet?healthy.

Without further ado, here are what we ? namely Orchid, Valerie & I ? had on that wonderful Saturday afternoon:

Main courses

Bulgogi Beef Taco (RM19.90)

The popular bulgogi ? thinly-sliced beef marinated in soy sauce ? comes wrapped in a warm tortilla. The dish is also served with a side of kimchi, mixed vegetables and potato wedges.

On the day we were there, the kimchi of the day was made of cucumber.?According to Sung Yong, the kimchi varies from day to day.

This is a fusion dish where the sweet and savory goodness of Korea is deliciously wrapped in a delectable taste of Mexico!

Bibi Rice Burger (RM19.90)

Currently the cafe?s best-seller, the rice burger is a fusion of East meets West.

Grilled chicken breast is covered in bibi sauce (the sauce in bibimbap) and sandwiched between handmade grilled rice buns. The dish is also served with a side of kimchi, mixed vegetables and potato wedges.?Heavenly for people who like me, must have a rice dish every day?if possible.

Specialty

Mat Tang (RM14.90)

This honey glazed sweet potato dish is street food in South Korea. However in Namoo, the Mat Tang?becomes a specialty snack that contains a mix of glazed sweet potato, pumpkin and tteok (Korean rice cake) topped with Yuza-glazed nuts.

It comes with yuza marmalade so if the dish is not sweet or tangy enough, you can dip it in the marmalade.

My personal fave in this mix is the tteok. It is sweet and mildly crisp on the outside, and the chewy tteok texture makes it a delight on the palate.

Desserts

Sweet Potato Cake (RM9.90)

A blend of sweet potato and nut served with vanilla ice-cream. Since we also had the Sweet Pumpkin Cake, we can make comparisons of the two, and this is clearly the winner!

To us, the blend of sweet potato and nut is light and went down very well with us?especially Orchid & Val who both demolished the cake.

Sweet Pumpkin Cake (RM9.90)

A blend of pumpkin and tofu served with ice-cream on the side. This one is a little more dense than the Sweet Potato Cake.

The blend of pumpkin and tofu is similar to the paste in mooncakes. Yes, it can get rather ?heavy? on the palate.

Drinks

Yuza Smoothie (RM12.90)

A mild citrus drink that is refreshing. The Yuza (or yuzu) orignates from East Asia, and is one of the ingredients that has to be imported to Malaysia. The smoothie has a light citrus-y taste without being too tangy or sweet.

Milky Hwa Cha (RM9.90)

According to our friendly host Sung Yong, this drink can be found in nightclubs in Seoul. For those who prefer not to indulge in alcohol, they can opt for the milky hwa cha to quench their thirst.

In the cafe?s version, this milk-based watermelon juice contains fresh watermelon and banana. A healthy and thirst-quenching concoction indeed.

Namoo Fruit Water ? Peach (RM7.90)

For those who love peach in their drinks, this is definitely for you. This peachy mix comes with peach ice-cubes as well!

Peach slices are frozen in ice cubes and popped into the drink. As the ice melts, the fruit becomes available in your drink.

All the drinks above are mostly naturally-sweetened. The sweetness comes from the fruits themselves.

Empire State gunman did not plan to return to his apartment

Police found books on fighting skills and ammunition at the apartment of Jeffrey Johnson, the man killed in a police shootout at the Empire State Building Friday. Johnson had left his keys with his landlord Friday, and did not plan to return.

The man who shot and killed a former co-worker and was himself killed by police near New York City's Empire State Building had left his apartment keys with his landlord on Friday and did not plan to return home, a police source said on Sunday.

Jeffrey Johnson, 58, an out-of-work accessories designer, killed Steve Ercolino, with whom he had been feuding, on Friday morning in midtown Manhattan. Nine bystanders were wounded as the result of police gunfire, three of them hit by bullets and six injured by fragments caused when police hollow-point bullets ricocheted off concrete planters.

Johnson left his apartment on Manhattan's Upper East Side that morning as he always did, around 8 a.m., wearing a suit, neighbors said.

"He left the keys in an envelope for the landlord with no intention of ever coming back," said a police source familiar with the investigation who declined to be identified because the source was unauthorized to speak publicly about the details.

Detectives searching Johnson's apartment found books on training and fighting skills such as "Techniques and Equipment of the Deadly Marksmen Snipers" and "Attack Proof - the Ultimate Guide to Personal Protection," the source said.

They also found a plastic case with 15 rounds of .45 caliber ammunition, the same kind he used to shoot Ercolino, and police planned to examine the contents of Johnson's home computer for more clues to his motive, the source said.

Johnson was being threatened with eviction, the New York Post reported on Sunday.

Johnson had been laid off a year ago from Hazan Imports, across the street from the Empire State Building, where he was locked in a dispute with the victim, police said. Johnson claimed Ercolino had failed to sell enough of his creations and held a grudge, they said.

Animosity between Johnson and Ercolino had prompted them to file complaints about each other with police in April 2011, police said.

Ercolino, 41, was a salesman at Hazan. He lived with his girlfriend in Hoboken, New Jersey.

The Whimsical Cook ? Smells Good Feels Good

So what about this mundane task that we all do every day? You know, making food; feeding ourselves and our families?

I am aware that my life is possibly not representative of ?normal? in my country ? I live in a rural area close to the coast, 30 minutes drive to the nearest shop and I stay at home while my husband goes to work. My circumstances mean that money is in short supply and ordering take-away food is a?logistical?impossibility as well as a fiscal irresponsibility. I?m a healthy sort of person anyway, and I tend to be fairly choosy about the quality of the food that goes into my mouth.

What this all means is that if I want to eat something, I have to make it. And I need a well-stocked pantry that can cater for most of my cooking whims, because I can?t just pop up to the shop to grab that missing ingredient. And I really am a whimsical cook. I don?t like to eat the same thing twice in a two week period. I like to try new things all the time or I get bored. If I don?t feel like cooking, I don?t do it. This way, I get to keep on enjoying cooking which I love to do, rather than it becoming a dreaded chore, as it has for many women.

Don?t worry, I can see how it happens. I sat at our little table the other night watching as one child rolled on the floor screaming in rage about having to eat her last piece of cauliflower while the other child stood in the bathroom, vomit bowl in hand in case the little piece of pumpkin that he had just eaten would be expelled by his stomach. If you didn?t like cooking in the first place and you were subjected to this kind of nightly abuse, I can totally see why a person would just cave in and serve them frozen nuggets and noodles. I guess in the list of reasons why I prepare food for my family, making them happy is only one of many motives.

I think if motherhood has taught me anything, it is that I cannot be reliant on external appreciation in order to keep on doing what needs to be done. There has to be that part of me that gets its own reward ?for doing the mostly thankless tasks around the place.

So how do you keep that that spark of the sacred burning (or even flickering) within the everyday? Everyone is different, but for me, I do things when I feel like doing them, when the energy for the task flows easily. Chores, writing, study, socialising, relaxation, creativity, cooking ? all of these things are much less of a drag when I drop the schedule and just do things when I feel like it. This way of doing things is probably different from how most people go about their lives. And I haven?t always rolled like this ? by nature I am quite industrious and structured, in addition to being whimsical . But I do like to craft my life in a way that pleases me and nobody else, and I really don?t like being forced to do things I don?t want to! I have observed over my 36 years that some days I?really?enjoy cleaning, and I get a lot done ? and some days all I want to do is curl up in a corner with a book. Some days I love to be out and about with friends and some days all I want to do?is ?curl up in a corner with a book You get the picture.

In the past few years I have been paying attention to the movements of the planets and the cycles of the moon, and that helps me make sense of my moods (you can call them whims if you like) and even predict them to a certain extent. That isn?t everyone?s cup of tea, so use whatever floats your boat.

You might be thinking, ?Well, it?s alright for her, but I don?t have the luxury of doing what I want whenever I want ?- I have to go to work!? Yep , I get that. But that doesn?t mean that you can?t slip into the energetic flow of the day ? and by that I mean tune into yourself?(yes, stop doing and thinking for just one minute and ask yourself how you are feeling and what you feel like doing today) and ?adapt your clothes, your conversation and your task list to your personal flow. It?s my personal motto ? go where the flow leads you.

So, back to cooking ? if I don?t want to cook I don?t . My family won?t starve if I don?t cook for a night. I cook what makes me joyful ? and what makes me joyful changes from day to day. Sometimes I like to cook something that makes the Bear happy, sometimes I like to cook to please my children, sometimes it makes me happy to try something new, sometimes I get happy from making a meal out of our garden?and all the time I cook to please myself. Sometimes I am creative, sometimes I am nurturing, sometimes I am dutiful, sometimes I am patient and attentive to detail?and sometimes I just can?t be bothered. I honour all of these parts of me.

I have this on my kitchen wall:

If a woman could see the sparks of light going forth from her fingertips when she is cooking and the substance of light that goes into the food that she handles, she would be amazed to see how much of herself she charges into the meals that she prepares for her family and friends.

It is one of the most important and least understood activities of life, that the radiation and feeling that go into the preparation of food affect everyone who partakes of it, and this activity should be unhurried, peaceful and happy. It would be better if an individual did not eat at all than to eat food than to eat food that has been prepared under a feeling of anger, resentment, depression or any outward pressure, because the substance of the life stream performing the service flows into that food and?actually?becomes part of the receiver. That is why the advanced spiritual teachers of the East never eat food prepared by anyone other than their own chelas. Conversely, if the one preparing the food is the only one in the household who is spiritually advanced and an active charge of happiness, purity and peace pours forth into the food from her, this pours forth into the other members and blesses them. BALTIMORE (AP) ? Stepping to the plate with a chance to become the 17th player in baseball history to hit four home runs in a game, Chris Davis had one thing in mind.

"I was thinking about trying to work a walk," Davis said with a wry grin.

Davis didn't get that fourth homer, but three was quite enough to power the Baltimore Orioles to a 6-4 victory over the skidding Toronto Blue Jays on Friday night.

Davis hit solo shots off Carlos Villanueva (6-4) in the second and fourth innings, then greeted Steve Delabar in the sixth with an opposite-field, two-run drive to left field to put Baltimore up 5-1.

Facing Brad Lincoln in the eighth inning, Davis took three mighty swings but struck out on four pitches.

"I was definitely thinking about the home run," Davis said. "He gave me a good pitch to hit on the first pitch and I fouled it off. He was tough after that, but the biggest thing is we get the win and I enjoyed a pretty good night."

To say the least.

It was the first three-homer game for Davis, whose previous high was two on May 26, 2009, against the Yankees as a member of the Texas Rangers. The three home runs gave him 23 for the season, eclipsing his previous career high of 21 in 2009.

After the last one, Davis stepped out of the dugout to acknowledge the request for a curtain call by the crowd of 25,754. He's the 19th Oriole to hit three home runs in a game, the first since Nick Markakis in August 2006.

"It was awesome," Davis said of the ovation. "I mean, these fans have been awesome all year."

On Wednesday night, Adrian Beltre hit three homers for Texas against Baltimore. The Orioles, who were off Thursday, become the first team in major league history to be involved in two straight games in which a player homered three times, according to the Elias Sports Bureau.

Zach Britton (3-1) allowed two runs and four hits in 6 2-3 innings for the Orioles, who have won seven of 11 to remain in the thick of the AL wild-card race.

After Jeff Mathis hit a two-run homer off Matt Lindstrom in the ninth, Jim Johnson got three outs for his 39th save.

It was the sixth straight defeat for the last-place Blue Jays and their season-high seventh consecutive loss on the road. But Toronto did, at least, end a run of seven successive games without scoring more than three runs.

Unfortunately for the Jays, their offensive outburst wasn't enough to overcome Davis' three long balls.

"He had a good day," Villanueva said. "He's capable of doing that. You make some mistakes, he did what you're supposed to do with them. Especially the last two. He won them the ballgame, simple as that."

Earlier in the day, the Blue Jays activated Jose Bautista (left wrist inflammation) from the 15-day disabled list. Playing in his first major league game since July 16, Bautista went 0 for 4 with two strikeouts.

Toronto went up 1-0 in the second inning when Edwin Encarnacion doubled and came home on a single by Kelly Johnson. The Blue Jays didn't get another hit until Encarnacion singled with two outs in the sixth.

Davis connected on Villanueva's first pitch in the bottom of the second. It was the 66th home run in the 21-year history of Camden Yards to land on Eutaw Street in front of the B&O Warehouse, the third hit by Davis.

In the fourth, Orioles shortstop J.J. Hardy dived behind second base to make a sensational stop on a grounder by Johnson and got a force out with a backhanded flip to second.

Davis homered to center on a 2-2 pitch in the fourth. His sixth-inning drive, on Delabar's second pitch, followed a sacrifice fly by Matt Wieters.

Toronto's Rajai Davis doubled in a run in the seventh before Brian Matusz struck out Colby Rasmus on three pitches. It was the first relief appearance by Matusz after 68 career starts.

NOTES: The Orioles recalled Matusz from Triple-A Norfolk, designated LHP J.C. Romero for assignment, activated INF Ryan Flaherty from the DL and optioned RHP Tommy Hunter to Double-A Bowie. ... Baltimore RHP Jason Hammel, (15-day DL, right knee) threw a simulated game off the mound at Camden Yards. The Orioles will check his knee for swelling Saturday before determining the next step for his return. Also, INF Wilson Betemit (right wrist) could begin a rehabilitation assignment as soon as Tuesday. ... After the game, the Blue Jays activated RHP Brandon Morrow from the DL and will start him on Saturday night. Toronto also activated Yunel Escobar from the paternity list and optioned OF Anthony Gose and SS Adeiny Hechavarria to Triple-A Las Vegas.
