The MacBook Pro with Retina display is coming in for an update with Apple confirming that the leading laptop range is to get new processors alongside a more affordable price tag.
Cutting as much as ?200 from its MacBook Pro line, Apple has revealed that the newly revamped Retina display toting models, which are available today, will land alongside a refreshed MacBook Air, with the ultra-thin laptop also on the receiving end of a welcome price drop.
Kicking things off with the entry-level 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display, Apple has confirmed that the base model is to make the jump from a 2.5GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 processor to a new, faster, 2.6GHz option. What?s more, making the premium laptop more appealing and accessible to many, the Cupertino-based company has confirmed the device, which hosts 128GB of flash storage, will now set wannabe owners back ?1,249, down an impressive ?200 on its previous ?1,449 price tag.
Following suit with its lower specced sibling, the 256GB storage hosting 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display has also made the jump to the new 2.6GHz CPU with a similar ?200 price cut seeing the device now sporting a still somewhat hefty ?1,449 pricing.
Although Apple has given the 15-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display a similar specs improvement, with the base and top-of-the-line models jumping from a 2.3GHz to a 2.4GHz and from a 2.6GHz to a 2.7GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 processors respectively, neither appears destined for a much needed price cut.
Landing alongside the newly finished MacBook Pro with Retina Display lines, Apple has announced that the existing 13-inch MacBook Air with 256GB of flash storage, although not coming in for a specs overhaul, will not be ever so slightly friendlier on the wallet, dropping ?50 to ?1,199.
